2022:2023 Welfare Study in University Doctors
The emotional well-being and mental health of university doctorates have been the subject of increasing interest in recent years by universities, researchers and scientific journals. Doctors’ work is a source of scientific, technological and economic development. If they suffer emotional or mental health problems, which interfere with their personal and family well-being, and with their work, their research and the operation of the research team may suffer.
PhD students are embroiled in a dynamic characterised by a high workload, frequent evaluations, pressure to publish in competitive journals, active participation in the academic world, financial difficulties, a lack of permanent employment, and an uncertain future. Add to this the relationships with your thesis supervisors and the different roles that the doctoral student is expected to assume, for example, as a student, employee, parent or researcher.
Different universities have studied the well-being and mental health of their doctorates through surveys (University of California, Berkeley, 2014; University of California, San Diego, 2016; University of California, 2017; University of Missouri, 2017). The aim of this research is to analyse the welfare and mental health of UB PhD students. In addition, the influence that mentoring and the thesis monitoring process has on the performance and welfare of doctoral students will be analysed.
2022-24 FORSA::nbsp;Future-Oriented workplace Resilience Skills Assessment
The FORSA Project arises from growing calls to so-called “skills of future work”, such behaviors that, if used, will contribute to human flowering. While the most frequent approaches to future skills focus on hard skills, such as codewriting ability, our project contributes to the state of art of social science, advancing our understanding of a set of critical soft skills that support resilience.
These skills are said to be Skillsmicro because, although less apparent, they support a range of higher order behaviors. Microskiles include consciousness, communication and regulation of emotions, and have demonstrated obvious efficacy outside the workplace. However, they have not yet been operational in business studies. As this proposal will be discussed, our project will address these limitations by developing and validating an instrument for measuring micro-skills, while assessing the link between them and some performance-related indicators in the workplace.
In short, recent trends in the workplace are contributing to major social costs due to how workers and their organizations respond to volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. It highlights the need to report on ways of driving greater resistance. Although there are two significant research currents that contribute to addressing this need, both are critically limited. In the next section, we describe how our project addresses these limitations.

The increase of the longevity during the 21st century supposes a challenge for our societies and organisations, so much public like private.
